Apprenticeships

What are Apprenticeships?

An apprenticeship is a paid job where you benefit from structured training whilst gaining valuable workplace experience. Apprenticeships help
people to get the necessary skills and experience to succeed in their chosen career.

An apprenticeship includes:

  • Paid employment with holiday leave
  • Hands-on-experience
  • At least 6 hours off-the-job training per week on average
  • Formal assessment which leads to a nationally recognised certificate

Expect Apprenticeship Opportunities

At Expect we have different sectors of the business where you can gain a recognised qualification – Warehousing, Fleet, Admin, Customer Care,
Health & Safety, Communications and Events and more! These opportunities are advertised on our career page with a link for applications. We do
continually review our need for new roles and the apprenticeships that can be offered, so please do follow us on our socials and look out for
announcements.

Expect will set you up with the success to sky rocket your career; boosting your confidence and providing you with ongoing learning opportunities,
even after your apprenticeship has ended!

What Do Our Apprentices Think?

Expect have supported me by allowing me to study during work hours as well as offer support with areas of learning I require assistance with, for example I have shadowed my peers to help with areas of learning, which has helped with both my studies and in the office.

I enjoy my apprenticeship because it has allowed me to gain qualifications and essential knowledge and skills that I can apply to my work in the office and improve my own work and help others. I also enjoy the variation of what I learn, for example drafting financial statements, credit management and taxes, this allows me to work closely with all my team as different members are specially refined to those particular topics.

I chose to do an apprenticeship as I wanted to learn and gain qualifications whilst working in an office environment in which I can apply to my everyday experience working for Expect both currently and in the future.

Having an apprenticeship at Expect has put me a step forward in my career. I believe the work experience I am getting through being here is more valuable than the path I could have chosen, which would have been doing college 5x a week. With still only being young, I think this apprenticeship is the best route to take through the valuable skills I have gained already with only being here for just short of 2 months, (the money is nice as well). I have enjoyed going and meeting lots of different people at all the sites at Expect and I appreciate how easy-going everybody is, as they have helped me fit in quickly.

Doing an apprenticeship has helped me learn on the job and given me a head start in my career. I feel as though since starting my apprenticeship I have become a lot more confident through interacting with people of all different ages and I have learnt a lot more of logistics itself. Expect as a company have been supportive in my first 3 months of starting my apprenticeship by ensuring that I have a set day a week to complete my college work in the best environment with no distractions, and they are very supportive in helping me with the college work itself if I am ever unsure on what I am doing. I decided to do an apprenticeship over going to University because I felt as though I was having a head start to my career at a young age and I still have the benefit of being able to learn as I am building up my knowledge of the workplace.
