Lord Mayor of Bradford officially opens new Expect Distribution warehouse
On Wednesday 18th September the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Cllr Doreen Lee, officially opened the latest venture by Bradford based warehousing and distribution specialist, Expect Distribution.
At 193,000 sq. ft. the refurbished site on the Euroway Trading Estate is the biggest yet to be opened by the company and it is getting bigger. As the opening event took place so too did the start of works to build a new semi-permanent structure to extend the site. This will add a further 13,000 sq. ft. and 2000 pallet spaces bringing the total capacity of the warehouse to 32,000 pallets.
The opening event was attended by customers, suppliers, local councillors, partners and many of the contractors who worked on the £1.8 million refurbishment.
Managing Director, Neil Rushworth, who took guests through the history of the family run company, the timeline of the refurbishment and the future for the business, said ‘It is fantastic to welcome so many customer, suppliers, industry colleagues and local business representatives to our site. It has been a pleasure to chat with them and to show them around.
When looking for a suitable site for our new warehouse it was important that it was in Bradford. Being less than a mile from our head office on Staithgate Lane, this site is in the perfect location. It means that we can continue to create employment opportunities for the people of Bradford and stay close to many of our customers who are also Bradford based.’
There were pictures on display of the site before and during the refurbishment and on taking the tour it was clear to see where the money had been spent. A state-of-the-art segregated area for customer Borg Warner ensures that product is fed in to their production line, which neighbours the new site, exactly when it is needed.
VNA (Very Narrow Aisle) racking in the main warehouse ensures that the most is made of the space available and freshly decorated and furnished modern offices provide space for the Expect team to expand with the business as well as a further 10,000sq ft of offices which is currently available and providing opportunity for other local businesses who maybe looking for further office space.
The Lord Mayor did not disappoint, giving a heartfelt, entertaining speech that clearly showed how important Bradford, its economy and most importantly its people, are to her.
A great time was had by all and its clear to see that Expect Distribution are not a company that will stand still, with their roots now firmly within the heart of Bradford.
