Expect Safely Back On The Podium At The MT Awards
Expect Distribution have again been recognised as the best on a national scale at the Motor Transport industry awards, this time in the Safety in Operation category.
The awards took place on the 4th July at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London at a ceremony attended by nearly 2000 people representing the haulage industry elite and saw Expect as nominated finalists in two categories, the other being the Haulier of the Year award.
The award was the second successive year that Expect had been selected as finalists in the Safety in Operation category and this year we went one better than the previous year with recognition of an ever improving performance in the Health & Safety record of the company.
The Motor Transport awards represents the pinnacle of the haulage sector, with winners required to demonstrate outstanding performance in their selected categories as judged by peers within the industry.
When commenting on the award to Expect, which was unanimous across the panel, one judge commented “Expect Distribution was praised by the judges as a business imposing a safety culture on itself and one that provides strong evidence to support it. It has also been driven by direct intervention, identifying manual handling as a specific risk.”
The Expect team took to the stage as they were announced as winners to be presented with the award by Steve Hobson, editor of Motor Transport magazine and comedian Jimmy Carr and were then whisked backstage to be interviewed by TV celebrity Rachel Riley.
Expect Distribution Health & Safety Manger Kevin Barnes was clearly delighted by the award commenting “The award is the result of many years of hard work in setting targets for what we wanted to achieve as a business in terms of the safety of our employees, customers and suppliers alike and also reflects the dedication of our staff in delivering on those targets.
2017 was another outstanding year on the back of a consistently improving record as Expect continues to grow and I am proud to have led a “from the top” approach to health and safety within the company”
