What are Apprenticeships?
An apprenticeship is a paid job where you benefit from structured training whilst gaining valuable workplace experience. Apprenticeships help
people to get the necessary skills and experience to succeed in their chosen career.
An apprenticeship includes:
- Paid employment with holiday leave
- Hands-on-experience
- At least 6 hours off-the-job training per week on average
- Formal assessment which leads to a nationally recognised certificate

What Do Our Apprentices Think?
Having already studied my Level 3, I wanted to progress to Level 5 to gain better knowledge of HR theory & employment law. Allowing me to better support our colleagues and also to further my own development and knowledge.
I’ve enjoyed all aspects of the course so far, but I have mostly enjoyed learning different HR theories/models and being able to put these into practice. It has been really helpful doing this in a face to face/group environment with other HR professionals, as we have been able to learn from each other and share our experiences.
I have learnt so much so far and there has been certain been topics I have been able to implement into my day to day right away, such as Talent Management and Evidence Based Practice.
Advice I would have for anyone thinking of studying my Apprenticeship it would be - stick with it, as it might seem tough at first to juggle everything and an apprenticeship at the same time - but once you have completed it, you have a qualification and the knowledge that will benefit you so much in your career.
Programme: Level 5 CIPD Associate Diploma in People Management
I chose this course because I know what career I can get out of it and how far I can potentially go. The course is assisting me as a Health, Safety & Facilities apprentice, which can take me down all different routes and paths. I figured getting my head down in a solid career at an early age will be more beneficial in 10-20 years’ time.
I enjoy the flexibility I have with my coursework as it is stretched out in a year’s plan. We only require classroom calls every 2 months and I prefer this to not having to go to college 1 day a week.
My biggest learning so far has been the importance of facilities management for all organisations. Without it, it would cause buildings to break apart/malfunction. Also, the importance and need for Health & Safety, it is the reason you enter/leave work safely.
Advice I would give for anyone thinking of doing this course or just an apprenticeship in general, then do it. It benefits you and you will be taking lots from it such a stable job, long-lasting career prospects, earn money whilst studying and lessons/skills you’ll always carry with you.
Programme: Level 2 Facilities Operative
I have wanted to gain my CPC since starting my career within logistics and this was an excellent opportunity for me.
Not only have I gained the knowledge needed to sit and pass my CPC exam, but the apprenticeship also allowed me to apply skills I have already learnt whilst at university to real life scenarios applicable to my job.
My biggest learning has been the amount of knowledge and responsibility the Transport Manager CPC qualification holds. From completing this course, I feel much more confident in speaking with drivers about certain topics which the CPC qualification covers and feel I am able to resolve issues quickly without seeking further advise from my managers first.
Specifically looking at the CPC course I have done, the one piece of advice I would give is to start reading the CPC modules earlier. This qualification covers a lot of different areas of transport and the better understanding you have before going into the masterclasses – the more engaging the course will be.
Programme: Level 3 Transport Supervisor
