Expect Distribution Completes Warehouse Development as part of £1.75m Expansion Plan
Yorkshire-based logistics company, Expect Distribution, has announced the completion of a 20,000 sq ft, expansion to its warehouse offering as the final part of its £1.75m growth plan.
The expansion at its headquarters at the Premier Point site in Bradford creates space to store an additional 2200 pallets, enabling them to grow their expanding warehousing service in line with growing customer demand.
The expansion goes hand in hand with the roll-out of Expect’s new warehouse tracking system which uses Android mobile technology to instantly locate pallets which are scanned at source before entering the warehouse.
This expansion completes a 2 stage growth plan for the company, which has been one of the UK’s leading distribution companies for almost 30 years. Stage one of the expansion was completed in June 2016 with the development of 2 acres of land adjacent to their headquarters into a lorry park.
Now the warehouse expansion is complete, Expect – which owns a second site in Halifax used for its Contract Logistics service – will rationalise its warehousing by closing its rented site at Low Moor in Bradford and moving activity on that site to its headquarters.
Whilst the move consolidates current activity, the business sees a move to a larger, new third site as a distinct possibility in the medium term
Expect Distribution Managing Director, Neil Rushworth, said: “We have seen a big increase in demand for our warehousing services and the expansion of our site at Premier Point gives us the ability to meet that demand as well as cater to our existing customers requirements.
“It means we can start bringing our warehousing offering into a two locations until we start the final stage of expansion for the company which will be to obtain a suitable third site in the region.
“Combined with the expansion of our existing site, a third site will give us unrivalled capability and increased volume to cope with existing and new clients’ demands and expand our warehousing service to more national companies,” he added.
“The added benefit of using the latest Android mobile technology in the distribution division enables us to create efficiencies from point of source to final location. This saves time and money and is just one of the digital innovations we have adopted to help streamline our processes for the benefit of our customers, offering them full traceability of their deliveries.”
